- Summary
Dr. Natalia E. Jiménez is Assistant Professor at the Institute of Biological and Medical Engineering and the Department of Chemical Engineering and Bioprocesses of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She obtained her Civil Engineering degree in Biotechnology (2012) at the University of Chile and completed her Master's degree in Engineering Sciences mention in Chemical Engineering (2012) and PhD in Engineering Sciences mention in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (2017) at the same university. Subsequently, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM) and the Center for Genome Regulation (CRG).
His main lines of research are focused on studying the metabolism of microorganisms, eukaryotic organisms (cell lines and macroalgae) and microbial communities. To characterize these systems he generates and analyzes genome-scale models of single organisms and communities in order to study metabolic interactions in different ecosystems and in systems with different biotechnological applications.
